History

Lugoff Elementary opened its doors for the school year 1967-68.  Students in grades 1-6 attended the new school.  30 years ago, there were 15 teachers and approximately 385 students. 
Today, Lugoff Elementary has approximately 650 students in grades K-3.  There are 7 kindergarten, 7 first grade, 6 second grade,  7 third grade, and 3 special needs classes, as well as 2 speech therapists.  In addition, students attend art, music, P.E., computer, library, guidance, and science center classes weekly.  Each kindergarten class has a teaching assistant, and there is a floating teaching assistant for grades 1, 2, and3.  Overall student/teacher ratio is 23:1.
